Clwb Ifor Bach is an award-winning live music venue and club event space located in the heart of Cardiff’s bustling hub for music, Womanby Street. 

Clwb has occupied the three-storey building since 1983, and over the years its interior has evolved organically with no clear design intent. We were commissioned by Clwb Ifor Bach to introduce an interior design strategy for the premises, starting with the front of house entrance and acoustic lobbies.  

The colour palette draws from the existing architectural features of the building – the red brick and random stonework particularly. We painted in a scheme of grey tones to tie in with the existing flooring; created a custom-made ticket desk; added way-finding graphics; and a feature wall laden with band names who have performed at this grass-roots venue over the years.
