Mount Stuart Primary School in Butetown, Cardiff engaged us to design an installation to occupy a part of the school’s outdoor space. 

Through a series of workshops, we established that what the pupils wanted most from this project was a place to sit and be sheltered from the wind; a place where they could socialise and contemplate; and a place where they could learn and play.

Set on a 1m x 1m grid, and inspired by the pupils experience of parkour free-running we developed a series of platforms on which the pupils can sit, contemplate, socialise, shelter and play in a non-prescriptive way – a playscape that invigorates and nurtures the school childrens’ imaginations, creativity and confidence.
