WALES MILLENNIUM CENTRE

To coincide with their most recent production Tiger Bay – The Musical, we were commissioned by Wales Millennium Centre to design a holistic scheme of creative interventions in the public spaces at WMC that brings the history, culture and characters of Tiger Bay to life. Working with members of the Tiger Bay community and The Heritage & Cultural Exchange  we curated a narrative of photos and information depicting the interconnection of home life and work life in Butetown during the coal export boom-years. The structures – the vessels for information – are bold black linear installations, derived from the concept of revealing the “traces” of Tiger Bay. The Pop-Up Museum resembles a row of terrace houses and invites people to share they’re stories about life in Tiger Bay.
